The Food

Dunvalanree is featured in the Good Food Guide as Chef-Proprietor Alyson Milstead's menus feature local seafood and farm produce. Everything is homemade, the menu changes each day and the results speak for themselves!!

Alyson's skills have been recognised by the award of an AA Rosette and a Silver EatScotland award and the hotel is also in the Good Food Guide. Come to enjoy smoked mussels cooked in garlic with bacon lardons followed by scallops cooked in white wine and a smidgeon of chilli. Then there are desserts.. but that is another story: homemade ice-cream, Crème Brule or Passion Fruit cheesecake – declared the best cheesecake ever by many guests!

Dunvalanree's wine list features a number of carefully selected examples and there is a wide selection of malt whisky (if over 60 to choose from is a wide selection) and Loch Fyne Ales available as well as soft drinks.

After dinner enjoy a Springbank whisky and fall asleep to the sound of the sea.

Non residents are welcome in the restaurant. Booking required, just phone on 01583 431226.

The Days

Good centre for a bit of golf.

Dunvalanree is a superb location to explore the history and wildlife of the Mull of Kintyre, the birthplace of the nation. The most popular pastime amongst visitors to Dunvalanree is walking. Fortunately as there are so many choices, from Carradale Bay to the wind farm, walkers are likely to find it very quiet, and Dunvalanree has a series of walks based at Port Righ.

The area abounds in history – even on the doorstep, it was here in 1306 that Robert the Bruce landed as he fled the English army.

The Bedrooms

All en-suite rooms have a colour TV and an extensive fair trade hospitality tray including fresh milk for tea or coffee.

Each room also has binoculars (for spotting wildlife and golfers) as well a guest folder that we have prepared ourselves detailing all the different things to do during your visit at Dunvalanree. Visit our web site to download "Seven Days in Kintyre" – a guide to all there is to do in Kintyre.

"A quandary, do we tell our friends of this gem we have stumbled upon?"
