Seafood Trail member Dunvalanree, run by Alan and Alyson Milstead, is featured in the July edition of Delicious Magazine. Be sure to get your own copy of the magazine - full of fantastic summer recipes - to read the article in full (complete with readers' special offer). In the meantime, here's a taster of what Delicious had to say:
"Sitting on the edge of the pretty cove of Port Righ, with Carradale Bay behind and views of the Isle of Arran across the water, Dunvalanree has bagged one of the best spots on the Kintyre peninsula, on Scotland’s craggily beautiful west coast.
Alyson is the (highly creative) cook and the menu changes daily. The hotel is part of the west coast’s Seafood Trail (theseafoodtrail.com) and does a great line in scallops, lobsters and langoustines (not to mention revelatory smoked mussels), most of them supplied by Carradale’s fishing boats. The dining room is a sociable spot, with Alan holding court at 7pm over pre-dinner drinks. After dinner, mention the word “whisky” and he may lead you to his cubbyhole under the stairs, where there’s a trove of single malts. My pick: the Longrow 10-year-old, from the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown, further down the peninsula."
