Make Mother's Day even more special this year and dine at one of The Seafood Trail's hotels and restaurants. Treat mum - and the family - to a drive along Argyll's stunning coastline and stop off for a delicious lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. All you have to do is choose your bit of The Seafood Trail and where you'd like to dine. While a couple of The Trail's establishments are still to re-open for the season, here are some suggestions for where to head this Mother's Day - Sunday 26 March (in case the date has slipped your mind!) As Mother's Day is always a busy Sunday, make sure you book a table with The Seafood Trail members.
Creggans Inn, Strachur - Macphunn’s Bar and Bistro offers a fantastic dining experience - much loved by diners travelling from far and wide to enjoy a meal at Creggans Inn. Their menu - supplemented by daily specials - will tantalise your tastebuds. We like the sound of the pan fried fillet of cod with wild garlic quinoa, roasted beetroots, scallions and chorizo emulsion. Delicious!
Royal An Lochan Hotel, Tighnabruaich - explore Argyll's Secret Coast and while in Tighnabruaich, a visit to The Tig art gallery is a must. The Royal an Lochan takes full advantage of its beautiful setting overlooking the Kyles of Bute. The Deck Restaurant showcases the Chef's wonderful seafood dishes and the Shinty Bar offers delicious homemade 'pub grub' and a friendly atmosphere.
Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, Cairndow - set on the rugged shores of Loch Fyne, head to the restaurant and oyster bar known for locally produced favourites such as Loch Fyne Smoked Salmon, Crispy Oysters with Horseradish and Tarbert Crab. Take in the lovely restaurant atmopshere then pop into the Deli to take some seafood treats home or head next door to the garden centre for some summer bulbs.
Cairnbaan Hotel, by Lochgilphead - with a fantastic setting at Lock 5 on the Crinan Canal, dine in the Cairnbaan's a la carte restaurant or enjoy a lighter meal from the Bistro style menu in the relaxed atmosphere of the bar, convservatory lounge.
The Pierhouse Hotel, Port Appin - enjoy a special Mother's Day menu (with children's menu too) at lunch and dinner. Dishes include a ragout of peeled langoustine tail, mussels, smoked haddock & salmon and chargrilled duck breast with a rich kirsch & blackberry jus. Mmm! Afternoon tea is also being served in the Ferry Bar. Sit back, take in the view across Loch Linnhe and watch the world go by!
